Description

A wonderful sketch commission done for me by Lily-pily! Be sure to visit her gallery!

This one was fun to build, oriented around a special ability possessed by the earth-genie descended Oread race called Ferrous Growth, which allows them to transmute a single piece of iron or steel into a weapon or other object up to ten pounds in weight. Then my brain went into devious overdrive as I thought "Well it doesn't say the weapon has to be appropriate for your size..." And so the rough-and-tumble rock lady wielding enormous weaponry was born.

Freya of the Five Rings

"You really need to loosen up some. Keep tight like that all the time and you'll hurt yourself."

Unlike most Oread, Freya is a free and easy spirit with a gregarious nature, most likely due to living her life among the dwarves of the Five Kings Mountains. While Oread and Dwarves are most often known as gruff and stoic beings, when a dwarf decides to cut loose, they party hard. Freya stands at an astonishing height, most uncommon for the earth-descended, and so some of the dwarves have taken to calling her nicknames like "Peaks" and "Snowtop" in comparison to their own stature. She plays rough and ready, always up for a wrestle or a drinking contest, and likes to keep things light. In her opinion, being too unmoving can be disatrous, as flexibility and surprise are key elements for any warrior. She tends to be a tad reckless in this regard, but make no mistake, she's a fierce combatant. She's called "Of the Five Rings" not only for her homeland, but for the rings she wears on her hands: five of steel, five of iron. The reason for these unique accessories catches many off-guard. Using the small spark of shaitan magic within her, she can transform any one of these rings into a hefty weapon (preferably a sword or hammer) usually of substantial size and power. She never removes them, as they've saved her life many a time from Darklands foes and other cavern creatures.

Freya is an avid follower of the Dwarven gods, as well as Cayden Cailean, who shares much of the same beliefs as her. She enjoys the company of equally extroverted people, and tends to get annoyed with the reserved and tightly-wound. At home on both the frenzy of the battlefield and in the relaxed atmosphere of a hot spring, Freya lives every moment as though it were her last.

Her "hair" appears as an unusually flexible form of greenish mica, and her eyes look as spheres of solid white marble. A few decorative topaz-like fleshgems are embedded in her dark granite skin, on her knees, elbows, navel, and forehead most notably.

Ferrous Growth - Oreads with this racial trait learn how to mimic the magic of their shaitan ancestors. Once per day, such an oread can cause a touched piece of non-magical iron or steel to grow into an object up to 10 pounds in weight, such as a sword, crowbar, or light steel shield. This object remains in this form for 10 minutes or until broken or destroyed, at which point it shrinks back to its original size and shape. This racial trait replaces the spell-like ability racial trait.

Iron/Steel Rings Ferrous Transformations (1/day, 10 minutes):
Warhammer (Large) - 1d8(2d6) damage, x3 crit, (10)lbs.
Longsword (Large) - 1d8(2d6) damage, 19-20/x2 crit, 4(8)lbs.
Trident (Large) - 1d8(2d6) damage, x2 crit, 10ft. range, 4(8)lbs.
Light Steel Shield - +1 AC, -1 armor check, 6lbs.

Granite Skin - Rocky growths cover the skin of oreads with this racial trait. They gain a +1 racial bonus to natural armor. This racial trait replaces energy resistance.

Stone in the Blood - Oreads with this racial trait mimic the healing abilities of the mephits, gaining fast healing 2 for 1 round anytime they are subject to acid damage (the acid damage does not need to overcome the oread's resistances or immunities to activate this ability). The oread can heal up to 2 hit points per level per day with this ability, after which it ceases to function. This racial trait replaces earth affinity.

Titan Fighter Archetype
Giant Weapon Wielder (Ex)

At 1st level, a titan fighter can wield two-handed melee weapons intended for creatures one size category larger than himself, treating them as two-handed weapons. He takes an additional –2 penalty on attack rolls when using an over-sized two-handed weapon.

This ability replaces the fighter's 1st level bonus feat.

Incredible Heft (Ex)

At 3rd level, a titan fighter becomes more skilled at wielding weapons intended for creatures one size category larger than himself. The penalty on attack rolls for using such weapons is reduced by 1, including when using over-sized two-handed weapons.

At 7th level and every 4 levels thereafter, this penalty is reduced by another 1 (minimum 0).

This ability replaces armor training.

Unstoppable Momentum (Ex)

At 5th level, a titan fighter gains a +1 bonus on combat maneuver checks and to CMD while wielding a weapon sized for a creature of a larger size category.

At 9th level and every 4 levels thereafter, this bonus increases by 1. When wielding over-sized weapons, the titan fighter can attempt to bull rush, drag, overrun, reposition, and trip creatures up to two sizes categories larger than himself.

This ability replaces weapon training.
