Description

An excellent trio of Pathfinder character commissions done for me by Epifex! Be sure to stop by his gallery, check out his nuzlocke series "Goddamn Critical Hits", and support his continued artistry with your patronage.

So in this little lineup we have Crispin Sayre, a Dhampir Investigator of the Mastermind archetype, Phoebe Gethsemane, a human Alchemist with the Chirurgeon and Inspired Chemist archetypes, and Kavyn, a human Magus with the Staff Magus archetype. These three are among my favorites of the characters I've built for the Pathfinder tabletop RPG, and even if I never get the opportunity to bring them into a campaign, they still float around my noggin enough, re-entering my thoughts from time to time.

Crispin is trying to encourage a new mindset among the people of Golarion. His hypothesis revolves around the idea that the Negative Energy Plane is not so much evil as it is merely anathema: an equal and opposing force to the Positive Energy Plane lacking any moral alignment. While creatures born from it (the Undead) develop the biological need for the consumption of life essence, vampires are a unique case in that they are sentient, intelligent, and do not require the whole of the life's vigor, but merely enough to sustain existence. The only reason vampires in Golarion are evil, by his own philosophy, is because the act of consuming life essence is viewed as evil on a societal level, and encouraged by evil-aligned deities, such as Zura, the "supposed" progenitor of vampirism. In Crispin's eyes, vampires are not so much under an evil curse as they are suffering from a medical affliction, and while there may not be a cure, any illness can be worked with into a manageable state with continuous treatment. The only thing stopping them from accepting willing donations of blood is the stigma surrounding the act and the intervention of evil-aligned beings such as devils and demons.

Phoebe is a battlefield medic from the free nation of Andoran. The daughter of an herbalist, she joined the Andoran Army's Medical Unit when Chelaxian forces came a little too close to home. She swore an oath to Dalenydra, the empyreal patron of battlefield healers (and thus, swore to nonviolence), and worked alongside clerics, holding her own with their divine healing magics using her own modern medicine. It's an unwritten rule that healers of Dalenydra can't be harmed on the battlefield, though the unspoken rule is a bit sketchy as to what one may do with them off the warzone. She was taken captive behind enemy lines for interrogation, and escaped with the help of her sergeant. She's trying to make her way back to Andoran with intel on the Chelaxians' movements, but the Chels have her walled off at every pass.

Kavyn is a graduate of Theumanexus College in Korvosa. During his time there, he did extensive study into Golarion's history in addition to his arcane focus, and was concerned with the number of threats that have arisen over the years that are still present today. Compensating for the common weakness of wizards by training his body and martial skill in addition to his spellweaving, he jotted down a reference of the most dangerous threats and set off to find allies capable of helping him take care of these dire issues.
